Style.com's 'item of the week' is the above Petit Bateau striped jacket. This got me thinking about another of my favourite Spring shows, which opened with a couple of the greatest stripe jackets you will ever see, all courtesy of Riccardo Tisci. The black and white of the striped (and sometimes aztek) patterns could be seen to reflect the juxtaposition of strength and vulnerability that seemed to snake through Givenchy's Spring show, and on a deeper level perhaps hint to the struggle contemporary woman have in being the loving and maternal beings that they are celebrated to be, whilst fighting to be independent and equal to their peers. Highlights include cone hats and incredibly manipulated silk bags. Who said romance was dead??
